2 We don’t try to be all things to all people. Weâre just a few things to some really special people. Typically, a team of 1 to 5 that sells services to individualsâusually consumers, but sometimes business owners. Our clients range from small companies to national nonprofits, but many are changemakers or activists. đ€©
Almost all clients are service companies (law firms, therapists, wellness practices, etc.). While we sometimes help small e-commerce shops, membership sites, and online product stores do better with less, our passion is helping our ideal client deepen their impact while spending less time selling services.
3 We actually teach about Running Biz While Black (or As Allies). “Equal” treatment is overrated. This “equality” actually swallows unique humans whole, making us faceless. It forces the expectation that our pains, concerns, fears, and needs are the same as everyone else’s. But theyâre not. (Not even close.)
So, starting now, we speak to our clientsâ experiences, not merely to their ethnicities. This means talking about the “secret sauce” you need to stand out as excellent in a world that sees you as âother.â
4We ditched costly ongoing promotion to empower your self sufficiency. Small businesses often spend WAY too much on agencies and freelancers that deliver what you ask for vs. what you truly need. But we shoot it straight. We’re honest about what you need nowâat your current stage, with your current budget, goals, and even personality.
We know this sounds weird, but… we think you and your team should actually enjoy what you do!
5 We run lean to help YOU do the same. And we reassess often to avoid unneeded expenses. That means using digital over paper, Zoom over in-person meetings, video walkthroughs over lengthy appointments, self-fueled promo over costly monthly marketing … and for heavenâs sake, no phone tag. Just spend the extra time you save crushing your 1-year goals. đȘđœ (You’re welcome.)
6We stick to high-impact, simple services to help you hit targets. It seems like we do a lot, and… we guess thatâs true. But every service we offer is designed to help you achieve a goal, not just look the part. Ex: You donât need to be on social multiple times daily to grow. (In fact, using social media for business often slows down growth.)
So, instead of helping you “keep up with the Joneses,” we set you up to improve sales.đ
7We offer a âPay What You Canâ option for Change Agents in need. We know what itâs like to need high quality help, but lack the funds for it. 8We do the same stuff we teach/provide. We donât sell you something more expensive, then use cheaper stuff. We also donât sell you something complex, then only use a piece ourselves. Every option we suggest is one weâd consider using or have used.
9We think âagency combined experienceâ is weird (and irrelevant). Ever seen, âXYZ Company boasts a combined 250 years of experience!â? Um. Well, we donât know about you, but weâd rather know that the one person running our project has “x” years of experience (and see proof). Combining years just makes it hard to see your provider has 90 minutesâ experience when you thought you had an expert! đ°
